According to Vijeta, Sandhya's husband, Jayprakash has now increased the reward money from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh to anybody willing to provide information on the whereabouts of Sandhya.
Talking to TOI, a month after Sandhya disappeared from Seawoods, Navi Mumbai, a visibly distraught Vijeta said that she fears her sister might have been kidnapped for her jewellery. Sandhya disappeared after coming out of a bank, where a friend had dropped her.
Vijeta said: "Apparently she had got into a rickshaw after leaving the bank. However, the rickshaw driver is yet to be traced. We are anguished over her well being".
According to Vijeta, her brother Lalit of Jatin-Lalit combine and her brother-in-law Jayprakash, who was a commissioner in the excise department, have met the CBI officials over the case.
"I dial Sandhya's mobile number every day hoping that it will ring and we will be able to locate her. She was very fond of wearing ornaments. She used to always wear jewellery worth at least 8 lakh, even when she was travelling on public transport. And this day was no exception. I had repeatedly warned her against wearing so much jewellery, especially when she is availing public transport. Whenever she came to visit me, I would make sure she takes off all the jewellery, tie them up in a handkerchief and put it inside her bag, before she starts off for her home," she said.
