Mahesh Manjrekar to shift base to Pune

Actor-producer-director Mahesh Manjrekar has decided to shift his base to Pune. In a recent television chat show in Marathi, Mahesh expressed his desire to move out of Mumbai, since he is "fed up with the city's vertical growth". His wife Medha also said that "there were no open spaces for their kids to play."

Medha spoke to TOI and said, "We have decided to move to Pune and will be shifting our base by May. We have bought a place in a popular township in Hadapsar where we will be staying. We felt Mumbai was getting claustrophobic. There is no open space left and hardly any recreational options for children apart from malls. The beaches that we frequented as children have become polluted and there is no space left to cycle on roads. There is luxury of space in Pune. It has been a difficult choice, but we are happy for our kids who are looking at getting admission in educational institutes in Pune."

So how do they plan to manage their work front? "I don't think it should be a problem for Mahesh as most of his shootings take place in Pune and he plans to travel to Mumbai when required. He will soon shift his office to Pune as well. Also, some of our relatives and colleagues are shifting with us to Pune which will make things easy."
