Priyanka Chopra has put an end to weeks of speculation over her special song and dance number in Shootout at Wadala. TOI has learnt that the actress recently signed on the dotted line at the film's producer, Ekta Kapoor's house. Once shot, this song would mark PeeCee's debut in the wildly popular but now controversial genre that has seen everyone from Malaika Arora to Kareena Kapoor shimmy for catcalls and wolf whistles. PeeCee is doing a promotional song in Zanjeer, which she top lines, while she has no part in Shootout...
The song has been titled Babli Badmaash Hai - reminds you of a certain Munni? Well..
But the lyrics and the title apparently, had to pass PeeCee's censorship test. The actress had made it very clear that she would not dance to lyrics with double entendre or make suggestive moves.
A source close to the film told TOI, "Three songs were run past her. She finally flipped for Babli Badmaash Hai. The song has been composed by Anu Malik and will be sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.
Buzz is, the song will see PeeCee doff a hat to Zeenat Aman in Aap Jaisa Koi and Parveen Babi in Jeete Hain Shaan Se. "When PeeCee heard the song, she thought it was RD Burman meeting Feroz Khan,'' said the source. "Glamour yes, but no vulgarity," added the source. Sanjay Gupta says the song will have a retro feel. "We are still working on the styling. There's lot of detailing that's required," he said.
According to sources, the song will be shot over three days at Film City (Goregaon) under Gupta's supervision. "This song will drive the film's promotions," said Gupta.
Ekta too sounded characteristically gung-ho: "Mark my words, it will be the track of the year." meanwhile... At home, with dad.
Priyanka Chopra is relieved her dad is well and back home. Dr Ashok Chopra, who has been undergoing prolonged treatment for cancer, was released from hospital on February 17. And unlike other years, the family settled for a quiet dinner at home on the occasion of Priyanka's parents' (Madhu and Dr Ashok) marriage anniversary.
Priyanka, who has lately been extremely upset over her dad's fragile health, tweeted her relief at having him back home. The actress' spokesperson too confirmed the development.
A source close to Priyanka said, "Her dad is fine now and she is relieved. So far, she had been shuttling between her work and the hospital. This year, her parents did not celebrate their marriage anniversary. They just had a quiet time at home."
Priyanka has been so worried about her father, that there were instances of her not being able to concentrate on her work and even forgetting her lines while shooting. She has also been tweeting about his health.
For now, "She is ensuring whatever time she gets in between, she spends it with her dad despite her packed schedule," the source said.
