Indian women are not vulnerable: Esha Gupta

In the wake of the tragic rape incident that claimed the life of Nirbhaya (the fearless one) on December 29th 2012, questions have been raised on the safety of women in India.

Former Miss India and model turned actress Esha Gupta challenges the issue of women and vulnerability in the country.

The actress seen in films like Jannat 2, Chakravyuh and Raaz 3, holds women equally responsible for the crimes meted out against them.

"Why blame only the men? It's our society as a whole that needs to change. I don't think women in India are vulnerable. What happened to Nirbhaya was so shocking and tragic. I remember watching the news where a woman leader went on record to say that women instigate men by wearing short skirts and there are more important issues to discuss than rape!," says Esha.

Further expressing her contempt to such attitudes she adds, "If a woman goes out with different men on different days, women only will question her character and call her all sort of names."

However, the actress does believe in the power and strength of a woman. "Women will always be beautiful no matter what and that's their specialty! I truly believe in the adage that goes something like God made man and realized he was missing something, so he made a woman."
