Filmmaker Suneel Darshan has found the leading lady for Karle Pyar Karle, his son Shiv Darshan's debut film, in Miss India Earth 2011 Hasleen.
This isn't Suneel's first time working with beauty queens. He pulled off a casting coup by bringing together Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta and Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra for his film Andaaz (2003).
After several auditions for the role, he finally found in Hasleen the leading lady he was looking for. Says Suneel, "Call it a gut feeling. Hasleen has what it takes — immense skill and talent."
He further says, "I got to meet Hasleen through an agency. She just fit the bill. Believe me, I spent almost a year looking for the right girl but could not find any."
Why didn't he cast an established heroine? "I wanted a fresh face and someone whose looks and over all personality would go well with Shiv's. Hasleen complements Shiv and that was evident when we completed a 30-day schedule recently. She has a pivotal role and living up to it just as imagined," he says.
