Amrapurkar, a resident of Panchdhara society in Yari Road, was to be part of the channel's show in a programme related to the drought situation in Maharashtra. The show was scheduled for Wednesday evening, but Amrapurkar informed the news channel of the Holi celebrations in the neighbouring building Panchvati on Wednesday morning. A news team immediately reached the spot.
"The society had the DJ and rain dance since 9.30 am.They have wasted so much water. I had informed the news channel about this, as they had invited me to be part of their show," said Amrapurkar.
Amrapurkar alleged that a group of inebriated people from Panchvati came and began assaulting the news crew. "They assaulted the cameraman and took away his cassette. They abused and assaulted me as well," he said.
In the meanwhile, someone informed the Versova police, who took Amrapurkar and the injured cameraman to the police station to record their statements. The cameraman was then taken to Cooper Hospital, as he had suffered injuries to his chest and neck.
The police have registered a case of assault and rioting against the accused.
