Recently, actor Amit Sadh (of Kai Po Che fame), who shared the dais with the filmmaker at a convention, was narrating his experience of searching for an accommodation in Mumbai along with his three friends over a decade ago.
Delhi-bred Amit and his friends finally decided to rent an apartment, but the landlord was apprehensive on one front — he wanted to know whether girls would visit them.
'Ladkiyaan toh nahin aayengi?' the landlord asked the boys. "Perhaps due to my innocence, I sounded quite honest about it," said Amit. 'Aayengi, kyon nahin aayengi (Girls will come, why won't they come)?' he replied.
A quick-witted Karan didn't lose a moment to remark, "Well, that was many years ago...now the landlord would also ask 'Ladke toh nahin aayenge'?" leading to lots of laughs and claps among the audience.
