‘Nirbhaya’ film gets mired in controversy

The recently released 'Tara- The journey Of Love And Passion' is being touted as a film about a woman surviving extreme ordeals and the makers of the film have dedicated it to Nirbhaya—the Delhi gang-rape victim. The promotional events also saw AwnindraPratapPandey, Nirbhaya's friend, who was with her on that fateful cold night of December, come out in support of the film. However, now Pandey is repenting his decision and accusing the makers of misleading him.

According to him, contrary to director Kumar Raj's claim, the film is not at all about women empowerment and the makers have taken him for a ride. "I came to know about many things about the makers of Tara. They were trying to sell the film based on false claims," says Pandey. He makes it clear that he will not talk about the film further but doesn't forget to mention, "I was told that Amitabh Bachchan had dubbed for the film and also that they are associated with Salman Khan's Being Human. None of which is true."

Raj not only slammed the allegations, but also accused Pandey of demanding money to extend support to the film. "He has asked us for Rs 15 lakh. Since we have refused that, he and his team are badmouthing the film. He has even threatened to take legal action against us for dedicating the film to Nirbhaya. I am not cowering down to these pressure tactics. He had attended a few promotional events and I am thankful to him for that," said Raj, stressing that the film is dedicated to Nirbhaya and will continue to be like that.
