"My father is a police officer and my mother a homemaker. A lot of people here believe that people in the West don't really bond with their families, but that's a wrong notion. I am extremely close to my parents and two siblings. They were all very supportive of my decision," says Izabelle. Her entry into the film industry was a smooth one though. "I came to India two and a half years ago and started doing ramp shows after which I began to receive advertisement offers."
When asked whether she believes in the products she does ads for, she simply says, "You don't have to buy the products you endorse. I do it as my job. When someone buys a product, they need to try it themselves; they can't expect to have hair or skin like mine by using a certain product."
Her first film was about the emotional upheavals that a sixteen year old goes through. "I relate to the film completely. At that age, you never know what comes your way and how you are going to deal with something like that. All of us who acted in the film have gone through the phase or in some cases are currently going through it. The kids here in India are no different from those in Brazil," she says.
One can easily make out that the biggest challenge she has faced here is the language. "Forget Hindi, I could barely speak English. My English has only improved after I did this film. My co-stars and the crew were a brilliant support during it all," says Izabelle with a warm smile.
So were there any cat fights and arguments on the sets. "Never. The film was shot in a short span of time, during which, apart from a few disagreements here and there, we all had fun. Considering we're all almost of the same age, it was an enjoyable experience."
About her relationship with cricketer Virat Kohli and the pictures of the two of them holidaying and shopping outside the country, Izabelle prefers to keep mum. "I do not talk about my personal life, right now, I only wish to talk of my career," she says stoically and apologizes. Her future projects include the advertisement commercials that she has been doing and an untitled film. "I cannot talk about the film right now as it is currently in a nascent phase. But yes, I have been receiving film offers," says Izabelle.
Among her immediate plans, is a long holiday. "I am going on a well- deserved break, first to Europe and then to Brazil to be with my family for a month. I cannot afford to take a longer break than this as I have commitments back here," says Izabelle as she signs off.
