But, Balaji Motion Pictures and Pritish Nandy Communications have jointly taken the decision to postpone the release. Explaining the development, a source told TOI, "Too many films are releasing around that time. Both Ekta and Pritish were looking for a better slot to release the film. It will now hit the theatres sometime in early 2014."
Ekta's decision to release Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! just a week after SRK's Chennai Express proved quite detrimental to her film and she is in no mood to repeat the mistake. A source added, "Chennai Express outdid Once Upon... at the box office proving once again that a big film has negative impact on the box office collection of films released in the following weeks. Having burnt her fingers once, Ekta now wants to play it safe and ensure her next film a longer run. Her team is trying to figure out a suitable window and the release date will be announced soon."
