I will never watch cricket match in my life again: Vindu Dara Singh

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 19 September 2013 | 21.44

"Cricket ke naam se hi darr lagta hai," says Vindu Dara Singh, who's in Lohagarh to shoot for a film, as he speak about life post IPL betting scam

He hasn't quite put the betting nightmare aside and moved on - maybe because he can't, not yet anyway, what with legal proceedings still underway. But Vindu Dara Singh, who got embroiled in the betting scam during the IPL 2013 got over, and was arrested in Mumbai for his links with cricket bookies, before being let out on bail, says he is trying to get back to a normal life.

But the controversies are still hovering around, "and that's a fact I cannot ignore," says Vindu, who is in Jaipur to shoot for Jaipur-based director Yogesh Mishra's film Life Non-Veg. "I am still trying to come to terms with it all," he says, adding "It still gives me nightmares".

The film is being shot in Lohagarh, some 100 kilometers from Jaipur, and to kill time, Vindu plays games with the rest of the crew to chill. And, he took out some time to speak to us as well. "Obviously life has to go on. And I am currently working in Mishra's film Life Non-Veg which is an adult film. I have some other projects on hand as well, including two Punjabi films (Love You Soniye and Jatt James Bond), three Bollywood films (Pranam Walekum, Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya and one more) and I might sign a television serial too," shares Vindu, who will be seen playing a gangster called ATM in the film.

Initially, when we prod him about the IPL issue, Vindu says he doesn't want to speak on the issue. "It is still under scrutiny, charge sheet and all, and I don't want to comment on such things," he says. But in the end, it turns out to be the inevitable in this chat - the mention of the IPL and his name being dragged into it cropping up. Slowly, he begins to talk about it. "IPL was just unbelievable and the most horrible experiences of my life. Ab toh cricket ke naam se hi darr lagta hai," he says.

A little bit into the conversation, the topic again crops up. and this time, he says, "Because of the political pressure, the case is still not dying down. People want to drag it for long, with vested interests in their mind, and aiming to target the BCCI chairman's seat."

He also denies any involvement in the betting scam. "I was held responsible for something that I didn't do. But one thing is clear - I have lost my fans. The fame that the reality show Big Boss got for me has been completely tarnished, in fact, wiped out by the IPL controversy. I did not do anything wrong, but still I had to suffer so much. I will never watch cricket match in my life again, nor will I suggest anybody follows this game. Iss IPL controversy ne cricket ko kitna badnaam kar diya hai. Yesterday, one of my friends called me up, saying, 'Bhai! Champions League has started. Only 22 spectators watching and 22 cricketers playing on the ground.' That's such a pity, man," says Vindu.

But despite all this, Vindu still lives in hope of his name being totally cleared of this whole controversy. He says, "I still have full faith in Indian judicial system, and I know that in due course of time, everything will be crystal clear."
