Be it hardheaded TV reporter Kareena Kapoor Khan in Satyagraha or war correspondent Nargis Fakhri in Madras Cafe, on screen journalists are increasingly portrayed as realistically as possible when it comes to their profession. In fact, reports suggest that Amrita Rao will soon be seen as a journo in the Sunny Deol-starrer Singh Saheb The Great, while Raveena Tandon tried her hand at being a scribe in Shobhana 7 Nights.

Raveena Tandon (Shobhana 7 Nights, yet to be released) Actress Raveena Tandon, who has been missing in action in Bollywood, took up the challenge of playing a journalist (said to be inspired by the life of a well-known scribe) in Shobana 7 Nights. Directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyaya, the film has been doing the festival rounds and got Raveena a Best Actress Award at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival last year.
Amrita Rao (Singh Saheb The Great, yet to be released) Reports suggest that the petite actress is leaving no stone unturned in perfecting her character and has already started attending acting workshops to convincingly play the role of a reporter in Singh Saheb The Great, opposite Sunny Deol.
Kareena Kapoor Khan (Satyagraha, 2013) When actress Kareena Kapoor Khan played a political reporter in Satyagraha, audiences appreciated her effort. In fact, Kareena has admitted that after essaying the role, she has developed respect for people in the profession.
Nargis Fakhri (Madras Cafe, 2013) In the film Madras Cafe, in which she played a war correspondent, Nargis Fakhri was the picture of poise and confidence as she showcased her acting prowess. Her portrayal of the character was a far cry from her performance in her debut film Rockstar!
Rani Mukerji (No One Killed Jessica, 2011) The political crime thriller was based on the media coverage in the controversial Jessica Lal murder case. Rani Mukerji played a TV reporter who teams up with the sister (played by Vidya Balan) of a murdered model in order get Jessica justice.
Konkona Sen Sharma (Page 3, 2005)In Madhur Bhandarkar's film about the media and Bollywood, Konkona played the role of a Page 3 journalist who covers the lives of celebrities and socialites. The movie explores the powerplay between the rich and famous and the media.
Preity Zinta (Lakshya, 2004) In the war drama, Lakshya, Preity Zinta played TV reporter Romilla Dutta, covering the 1999 Kargil war. For her character — rumoured to be based on a popular TV journalist — she sported a short hairdo and adopted tough body language.
