Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, which was one of the most successful tracks of the year, also got caught in some controversies. The song was alleged to have "rapey" lyrics. A lot of people raised voices against the constant repetition of lyrics "I know you want it," 18 times in the song and even lyrics "putting the ball in her court" were pointed out by many. Blurred lines has been banned at campuses of around five British universities, as it is said to excuse rape culture through the song and due to its racy music video. Lady Gaga recently released her latest single G.U.Y. that stands for Girl Under You from her album Artpop for which she even shot naked. The video was controverisal for showing a trio of look-a-like impersonators recreating Michael Jackson, Jesus, and Gandhi in the video. Also, the video featured her cavorting with multiple partners, simulate masturbation, and strip to her birthday suit. The music video starts with Gaga sporting iant bird wings struck by an arrow, wounded on the ground lying naked. The pop-star later engages in group sex and is seen touching herself on a bed. So, it had all the reasons to be the one of most controversial videos.

Shakira's single Can't remember to forget you with Rihanna has shown her indulge in some really candid moments with RiRi. Shakira who has publicly accepted the fact that her beau doesn't allow her to shoot videos with men anymore went forward and did it with a woman. Shakira was slammed by a Colombian politician from the capitol city of Bogota, Marco Fidel Ramirez, for promoting lesbianism through this video. He also demanded a ban on the music video from being broadcast on any of Colombia's channels! The video shows Shakira singing about mistakes with love and then with Rihanna's entry we find them cavorting on a bed and smoking cigars erotically. They are seen rubbing against each other sensuously.

Recently, Katy Perry's Dark Horse also touched the waves of controversies as members of the Muslim community criticised the video, calling it blasphemous. The reason being that a man is shown being burned, whilst wearing a pendant (also burned) forming the word Allah, which is the arabic (sic) word for god. Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of god) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames. In reaction to the online petition raised against it, Katy Perry decided to remove the Islamic symbol from her "Dark horse" video.

Bruno Mars' Gorilla was much in the news for Freida Pinto strip act. Freida, who has been a cleaner artist otherwise, reincarnated her image as a stripper in her last outing with Bruno Mars. The video was trending all over the world due to the dirty dancing that Freida did. It released on 15th October and had got around 3.5 lakh hits in just two days. Freida stunned one and all as Isabella in this video, where she's the love interest of Bruno and does a quick striptease. The video also shows her getting intimate with Bruno and are seen "making love like gorillas" as the lyrics of the song suggest.

Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" music video from her "Bangerz" album turned out to be quite a provocative video than its predecessor, "We can't stop". Miley is seen riding a wrecking ball completely naked. She is also seen making out with a sledgehammer in the video which is directed by Terry Richardson. In an interview on New York City's Z100 radio station, Miley Cyrus defended her controversial video saying, "I'm naked because I'm sad". She also revealed that her nakedness in the video is a metaphor for how vulnerable she feels inside.

Rihanna's provocative music video Pour it up had set off conversations about sex, materialism and exploitation. Rihanna also glamourised a stripper's lifestyle in the video. Pour it up is a strip club song and Rihanna was at her best flaunting herself through the dirty dancing in the video. She is seen swinging around stripper poles and touching herself inappropriately with no need for foam fingers. Rihanna sported a blond wig and sunglasses. Also, making sure that she wore minimal clothes, she wore a jeweled bra and denim thong shorts.

Britney Spears' video of 'Work B*tch' was in controversies, as allegedly Britney's body was digitally altered in the video so that she appears skinnier than she is in reality post kids. The video was banned due to the raunchy language and content it displayed. Britney is seen whipping one of her lingerie-clad background dancers in one of the scenes in the club. 'Work B*tch' was banned on UK television networks before 10 pm. Also, music channels MTV and The Box who were showing the video during the day asked for a cleaned-up version of the video. Director Ben Mor, in an interview to mirror.co.uk , admitted that, "She does not do anything she doesn't want to do."
