National Award winner was scrapped from theatres!

The National Award winner Bakita Byaktigoto did not run in the theatres beyond the first week of its release.

Even though Calcutta Times gave the film a good review and rated it at 3.5 (Read the review of Bakita Byaktigoto here), the film was taken off right after the first week. Even in the first week, the film was given odd show timings, leading to major loss for the producers.

Even though the producers decided to re-release the film a couple of months back, nothing helped. Rs 35 thousand was spent to book theatres where as the film could only do business of 9 thousand. Now that the film has won a National Award, the director is flooded with calls from and beyond the industry to arrange for screenings again. Ironic, eh? Even the team that showed interest in remaking the film in Hindi with Ayushmann Khurana in the lead have got back to the producers in a bid to take the deal forward.
