Rajeev Khandelwal plans to become a Dad?

SMALL IS BIG Actor Rajeev Khandelwal might have taken a jump from the small screen to the big screen, but he still finds television a bigger medium. "If you see, leaving a bigger medium like TV and moving to films, isn't a jump," says Rajeev, adding, "TV is huge, not only in terms of money but also in terms of popularity. I can say this 'coz I have tasted success on both the mediums. An actor is viewed and loved in a serial daily, while in films it is only for a movie show for a film. You can't get the love of the fans on a daily basis in films. So, for me TV is always a preferred choice." So does he have any plans to comeback on TV? "I've always said that I don't mind doing a TV show, whether fiction or non-fiction, provided the stuff is really interesting. Unfortunately, even though I get TV offers regularly, nothing has excited me to an extent that I say yes to that instantly."

MAN OH MAN, IT'S A FEST! Ask Rajeev on his choice of movies, which has been quite different from the regular commercial films and he says, "Even though my image on the small screen was that of a romantic hero, I broke that image post the release of my first movie Aamir. That image makeover happened in my mind, wherein I got a strong liking for such movies and roles. Aamir gave me more than popularity, it gave me respect in the industry as an actor. So far, the kind of movies that I have done, like Aamir, Shaitan, Soundtrack, Will You Marry Me?, Table No.21, Ishq Actually and now Samrat & Co.,they are typical theatre film festival kind of movies. I toh was thinking of having a Rajeev Khandelwal film festival. (laughs).

100 CRORE PRESSURE? NAH! So doesn't he have a craving for the 100 crore club? "Not at all! My small films are big in their own way. Producers don't invest 80 crores on me to aim for 100 crores. Even though the investment is less in my films, the profit percentage is the the same. My kind of movies are the future of Indian cinema. There'll come a time when such films will be called commercial movies and the now masala films will go down in number."

TIME TO CHANGE? Rajeev, who has been happily married for sometime now, says nothing has changed on his personal front, after marriage. "I'm still the same. My wife never felt the need to change anything in me and is a very secure partner. The only thing that has changed post marriage is that now I come home post 9 pm, warna pehle toh I would make plans with my buddies after 9." And yes, Rajeev is all set to make another change in his life. "Not this year, but next year definitely, I plan to extend my family and become a dad."

Lucknow calling! Rajeev came to Lucknow after a long time. "I miss Lucknow and Kanpur. I used to come here often but ab yeh dono shehr bahut door ho gaye hai. I can't tell you how happy I am to be back here. A large number of my fans, who stay is touch with me online, are from here. So this city holds a special place in my heart," says Rajeev.
