On Monday morning, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan had a close shave when the car they were travelling in met with an accident. The two actors, who were in Ahmedabad to promote their upcoming film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', were on their way from the airport to the hotel, when a car belonging to Assistant Commissioner of Police (G Division, Ahmedabad), JN Parmar, rammed into their luxury sedan. Fortunately, no one was injured. According to a source, "Both the stars were seated at the back. It was around 11am and the car had stopped at a traffic signal. The driver of a car just behind them lost control and rammed into their sedan. The impact shattered the rear windscreen completely. A few shards even landed on the backseat. Varun and Alia quickly jumped out, visibly shaken but unhurt." When contacted,Varun told Mirror, "I was in the yellow Audi whose rear glass was completely shattered. It was very scary."

According to a report in The Times of India dated April 21, 2014, TV actor Karanvir Bohra's car had an unpleasant encounter with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's vanity van. Karanvir Bohra who is a well known name on the small screen was shooting for the TV show Qubool Hai and had parked his car outside a city studio. Says an eyewitness, "SRK's driver reportedly rammed into Karanvir's car when he was driving in the studio premises. From what we have heard, the Bollywood actor's manager has met Karanvir and asked him not to lodge any complaint. The driver has apologised too. Looks like Karanvir will now have to approach the insurance guys." When contacted, Karanvir said, "I'm in a shot. I can't talk right now."

According to a report in The Times of India dated April 21, 2014, a major mishap was averted after actor Sonu Sood's high-end luxury car caught fire on the Western Express highway in Bandra on Sunday evening. His friend, Ajay Dhama, who noticed smoke issuing from the bonnet, immediately stopped the vehicle and managed to get out just before the front of the car got engulfed in flames. "I brought a 20-litre bottle of drinking water from a nearby shop and tried to douse the fire but that didn't really help," said Dhama who had just a few seconds to stop the car and escape the flames. Sonu, who was tailing him in another car, soon joined him. For some time, he and Dhama stood beside the car, completely helpless, before Sonu called the fire brigade which sent a team that soon brought things under control. "The police too reached the spot by that time," said Dhama, who is Sonu's best friend. In no time, seeing so much action on the road, a huge crowd had gathered too.

Paul Walker, best known as undercover agent Brian O'Connor in the 'Fast and Furious' action movies, died in a fiery car crash last year in December, 2013. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives," his publicist said. As per a report in The Times of India dated Dec 2, 2013, the alleged driver of the car was identified as former race car driver Roger Rodas, according to a Santa Clarita radio station with sources close to the situation. Paul was on his way to attend an event which was a fundraiser to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan for Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW), a non-profit disaster relief group the actor founded. Walker was at the event when he decided to take the car for a spin with his friend, who was driving.

Noted comedian and filmmaker Jaspal Bhatti, 57, died in a road accident near Shahkot in October 2012. As per a report in The Times of India, Bhatti along with his son Jasraj who was on the wheel, and two others was coming to Jalandhar from Bathinda for the promotion of his new film 'Power Cut' when the car hit a tree on the roadside. Bhatti was sitting in the rear seat of the car and received serious head injuries. The accident took place near the truck union on the outskirts of Shahkot."It is a blind turn. Either Jasraj had a nap or could not notice the turn and the car hit the tree," said Shahkot DSP M S Bhullar.
