Low footfalls for both 'Khoobsurat', 'Daawat-E-Ishq'

It was touted as another box office battle with two films releasing on the same weekend. While one managed to get slightly ahead in the race than the other, surprisingly, both films did not manage to pick up well at the box office.

According to a report in Koimoi, film critics had expected both the films would open in the 30-40% range. However that didn't happen as footfalls were very less.

However, 'Daawat-E-Ishq' starring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur scored over Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan starrer 'Khoobsurat' on Day 1 when it made Rs 3.75 crores on Friday as opposed to Rs 2.75 crores made by 'Khoobsurat'.

According to the report, the weekend business for 'Daawat-E-Ishq' ended up in the Rs 13-14 crores range while 'Khoobsurat' ended up in the Rs 11-12 crores bracket.

The report also mentions that as the weekend progressed there was more buzz for 'Khoobsurat' and a positive word of mouth for the film helped its prospects. Let's see how both these films fare at the box office during the first week.
