He is not called the superstar of the millennium for nothing. In a career spanning almost five decades, Amitabh Bachchan has achieved super stardom and has always been humble enough to acknowledge the people who helped him along the way. Temple run: Though he is thoroughly embarrassed with all the adulation, his fans never let it deter their endeavours to impress their God. Such is the fan frenzy that his fans in Kolkata have built a temple for him. The fans have sourced the shoes he wore in Agneepath and kept it on the chair he sits on in Aks and sing praises of the superstar with a customised aarti. The walls are inscribed with the words 'Jai Shri Amitabh' as is the saffron cloth that the pujari is wrapped in.

A touch can change lives: A samosa vendor who sold samosas outside a single-screen theatre prayed hard for his superstar's recovery. While this was what millions of fans did around the globe, the samosa seller deserves a special mention for the manner in which he celebrated after Amitabh was discharged from the hospital, hale and hearty. The samosa seller went up to Big B with a truckload of samosas and asked him to touch it once, after which he distributed the samosas as prasad to the many fans (devotees?) gathered.

Crazy kiya rey: While most of the things that Amitabh's fans do for him are sweet and touching, he has his fair share of the crazy fans too. A female fan of the superstar insisted on meeting the superstar. She had come to the city with her daughter and kept lurking around Mr. Bachchan's house before the guards complained and the police had to intervene. The woman then threatened to commit suicide if not allowed to meet Amitabh. Not just that, she also wanted to be employed by him just so that she could live under the same roof as her favourite star. Phew, now that's scary!

'Fast'est fan first: There were reports of many havans and aartis being held all over the country as Amitabh Bachchan recovered from his near-fatal accident. However, one fan's gesture just takes the cake. A female fan of the actor observed roza all through the time he was in the hospital and offered namaz five times a day for his speedy recovery.

Centennial woman: While the first celebrity name an Indian kid learns is usually that of Amitabh Bachchan, he has fans in the older generation too. The actor's 100 year old fan has forgotten all - even her family members - but feels motivated enough to eat when told that Mr. Bachchan would meet her. She also made an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati and screamed his name aloud upon seeing him.

Firang fanaticism: His desi fans are crazy enough but seems that even the videsi ones pine for him no less. A fan of the actor from Moldova waited 27 years to meet him and when she did, she bought him 27 roses and a bevy of gifts. Needless to say, the humble actor was overwhelmed by the gesture. While this was a rather sweet expression, Amitabh wasn't as happy with another Russian girl's obsession with meeting him. Reportedly, the girl was arrested for peddling drugs. Seems she just wanted to earn enough money to travel to India and meet Mr. Bachchan. Aww!
