The deciding factor between a 'blockbuster' and a 'bombed buster' movie, especially in Bollywood, has now been restrained to the box office collections only. The better the amount, the bigger the hit it is considered to be. 100 crore club and 200 crore club are the new trends. But one thing, that is conveniently overlooked by our Bollywood stars, is that these clubs and huge collections exist only because of the face value they have generated through their past 'hit (critically acclaimed and praised by audience) movies.' In the last couple of years, we have seen a number of movies where there is no story in the storyline. It starts with glamour, dance, romance and ends with some flying cars and zero gravity action sequences. Let's take a look at those celebrities who actually need a hit, not in terms of collection but in terms of critical acclaim from the audience and critics.

Shah Rukh Khan: The King of Bollwood, who has given us a series of hits, nowadays seems lagging behind when it comes to laudable scripts. Though his every release is a blockbuster at the box office, his fans expect much more than what is being delivered. Even his latest release, Happy New Year, minted around Rs 203 crore at the Indian box office, but we, as audience, would love to see him bounce back with some challenging roles like those in Chak De India, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Veer-Zaara etc. Although he is and will always be called the 'Baadshah of Bollywood', we would love to see him in those heart winning roles again.

Saif Ali Khan: When we talk of versatile actors in the industry, our 'Nawab' can never be missed out from the list. Having proven his acting capabilities in movies like Hum Tum, Kurbaan, Race and Omkara, Saif is among the Khans who can run a film by his mere presence. But the recent series of flops is something that cannot be missed either. After Cocktail, which released in 2012, Saif is yet to deliver another blockbuster. While few movies which he chose to do after Cocktail, like Go Goa Gone and Race 2, recovered the amount that was invested on them, many could not. Bullet Raja and Humshakals emerged as clear disasters at the box office. Khan has always been critically acclaimed for his versatility and now is the time for him to deliver something meritorious.

Emraan Hashmi: With his latest release Ungli having not performed well, critically and in terms of collection, the 'serial kisser' of Bollywood is among the actors for whom giving a hit has now become more of a need than demand. Shanghai, which released in 2012, was the last hit film for which Hashmi was critically acclaimed. But ever since that movie, his graph has only declined. There are more average or below average films in his kitty in comparison to the fewer hits he has given. And we all are eagerly waiting for him to give us another blockbuster performance like Jannat.

Abhishek Bachchan: Even after his latest release, Happy New Year, emerged as a commercial hit, we are not quite satisfied with Abhishek's performance. In fact, we observe all his commercial hits have been multi- starrers. The Junior Bachchan, who is often being over shadowed by the work of his dad, needs to deliver a hard-hitting role. After his epic performance in Guru, we can't let him settle down with something like 'Nandu' in Happy New Year.

Imran Khan: Ever since his Bollywood debut, Imran is known for only two things - his 'mamujaan' Aamir Khan, and his two hit films, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Delhi Belly. Since then, he has acted in several films but none of them stood up to even average spot, forget blockbuster. Currently, Imran is shooting for his next titled Katti Batti, with Kangna Ranaut. We hope the film emerges a hit, even critically.

Ayushmann Khurana: Debuting with Shoojit Sircar's romantic comedy Vicky Donor, Aysuhmann Khurana certainly made a 'heroic' entry in Bollywood. But his heropanti botched after his back-to-back disasters like Nautanki Saala and Bewakoofiyaan. Certainly Ayushmann is a talented soul with added singing capabilities, but it's of no use if not put in right direction and at right time. It's high time the Chandigarh boy delivers something unique and admirable, like Vicky Donor.

Bipasha Basu: The dusky beauty won countless hearts with her performance in Ajnabee, Jism and Corporate. But after some scintillating performances, Bipasha has confined herself to similar roles. Humshakals, Aatma, Creature did not add to her acting graph. Her last acclaimed hit was Raaz 3 in 2012. Its high time for Bipasha to gear up and get back into the race with some hard-hitting performances.

Kareena Kapoor: Kareena Kapoor is one of the leading actresses of the country. But when it comes to critically acclaimed hits, she is definitely not on top. Kareena needs an elusive hit as she hasn't had one in a long while. In the last few years, Kareena has given a number of flops like - Gori Tere Pyar Mein, Satyagraha, and Agent Vinod. She was last seen in Singham 2, which although was a commercial hit, but her presence and acting in the movie never made any headline.

Chitrangada Singh: Felicitated with the most promising newcomer award in 2006, actress Chitrangada Singh now seems to be out of her elements. With more flops in her name than hits, Chitrangada is lagging behind to establish herself in the mainstream cinema. Though the actress is always in the limelight for some or the other reason, but it's the movies which will keep her going. Chitrangada was last seen opposite John Abraham in I, Me aur Main, which bombed at the box office. With the younger lot bagging films opposite biggies, it has now become necessary for Chitrangada to deliver something critically creditable.
