The reason being that it's the day of Laxmi Puja and the Friday before that is Dhanteras, when people will be busy shopping for Diwali.
A distributor associated with the Roshans explains, "Over the years, we've seen that the two weeks before Diwali have been slow for the box-office. Until the day of Laxmi Puja, people are busy shopping for the festival. So November 3 is a better day to open the film than November 1. Friday will be Dhanteras and people will be too preoccupied with their festival purchasing to view a film. So even though people will be doing poojas at homes and offices on Lakshmi Puja day, that is Sunday, the theatres will be full of audiences eager to catch Hrithik's newest superhero movie on first day."
When contacted, Rakesh Roshan confirmed his film's release date saying, "It's the day of Laxmi Puja, a very auspicious day for new beginnings. And it's a Sunday, which is a holiday."
