The tumultuous personal life of 70s Bollywood superstar Parveen Babi continues to be the favourite fodder for filmmakers. Mahesh Bhatt made Smita Patil essay the role of his former girlfriend in 'Arth' (1982) and Kangana Ranaut too played the yesteryear sex symbol in Mohit Suri's 'Woh Lamhe' (2006).
Now, we hear that one of the lead characters from Vivek Agnihotri's next, Freedom, too is inspired by Parveen. South actress Payal Ghosh will be essaying the role.
Says our source, "In the film, Payal's track bears an uncanny resemblance to Parveen's reportedly turbulent relationship with Kabir Bedi. Parveen had a successful film career, but her personal life was tragic. Her insecurities and depression have been captured in the segment. Also, one of the segments will be based on Sanjay Dutt."
Vivek says, "I won't name the real-life people who have inspired me, as I don't want publicity. Besides, the characters in my film have been based on not just Bollywood actors, but also certain people from other walks of life."
