1) The film was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, the Mumbai Film Festival and the International Film Festival of Kerala. It won The Silver Crow Pheasant Award for Best Debut Film at the International Film Festival of Kerala.
2) National Award winning movie Filmistaan has an aarti with funny and witty lyrics and is gaining popularity. Actor and writer Sharib Hashmi portrays a movie buff in Filmistaan. Amusingly, Sharib has penned down and recorded aartis for numerous Bollywood stars including Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan, SRK and Salman Khan. Katrina's aarti has already been uploaded online, which features Sharib singing 'Jai Jai Katrina'
3) Recently, the film grabbed eyeballs with its promotional strategies. The posters carry provocative tag lines like, `Don't waste your time on a holiday. Watch Filmistaan on 6th June!' and `A good film is never off-duty.
