Not stolen Sai’s script so why is she upset: David Dhawan

There's more than just a spelling difference between Sai Paranjpye's 1981 classic Chashme Buddoor and David Dhawan's remake Chashme Baddoor.

Although Dhawan's film revolves around three friends and a woman who comes into their life, just like the original, the director promises that this film will be different.

"My film is different altogether from the original and it is more youthful", says David. Refuting reports that Paranjpye was horrified at the thought of David helming the project he adds, "If Sai is upset with me, she never told me. I know her every well and she never called me to say anything. I have not stolen anything. Viacom has bought the official rights and they are the producers. I am just directing the film. Everybody has a right".

Interestingly, Paranjpye's film and Dhawan youthful comedy releases on the same day but the director is not bothered by this clash. "Chashme Buddoor is 30 years old and not many people even know such a film existed. People are making comparisons because they learnt about the original through my remake. I have put my life into this film and have not take chances with the script. That remains very strong. But I'm happy if audiences can enjoy both the films simultaneously. Rakesh Bedi who was in the original is a very good friend of mine."
