'Happy New Year' to cross Rs 40 crores on first day?

There has been much hype surrounding Farah Khan's Diwali release Happy New Year. With a stellar star cast that includes Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, the movie has generated a lot of buzz and seems to have opened to almost packed houses.

According to a report in koimoi.com, the badshah of Bollywood seems to have worked his magic once again on the silver screen as the movie has had almost a 95-100% occupancy in multiplexes with single screen theatres taking a huge start too.

Further to reports, if this kind of occupancy is maintained throughout the day, the film is expected to cross Rs 40 crore collection at the box office on its first day, thereby creating history. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad have had a good response and Happy New Year may just set new records.
