Pooja Bedi's daughter, Alia Furniturewalla and late film director Ramanand Sagar's great granddaughter, Saakshi, were involved in a fight during their pub outing which led to their mothers filing a complaint against each other. Both parties have alleged that the other group was drunk and misbehaving. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, trouble started at Tryst Pub at Lower Parel's Phoenix Mall when Alia and her group of friends bumped into Saakshi and Meenakshi. According to the complaint filed by Meenakshi, she was dancing alongside her daughter and a friend when Alia and her friends, celebrating the latter's birthday, began bullying Saakshi. Pooja Bedi on the other hand alleges that her daughter was merely supporting a friend who was being publicly humiliated by Meenakshi, who was drunk. Recalling past incidents when Meenakshi's daughter Saakshi had publicly humiliated Pooja Bedi and her daughter on social networking sites, the actress has also filed a police complaint for the obscene gestures Meenakshi reportedly made in front of the children.

Let's take stock of other celebs who were embroiled in legal tussles, their popularity notwithstanding.

Shreyas Talpade has been summoned to the court for an alleged dispute relating to payment and credits for Shreyas' production, Poshter Boyz. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Shreyas Talpade was seen attending the 33rd Magistrate Court at Ballard Pier, along with wife Deepti on Tuesday. The dispute is between Jash Shah of Kaichi Productions and the Talpades, who are both directors of their company, Affluence Movies. Shah in his complaint, states that Talpade had availed of his company's VFX services for Poshter Boyz but later defaulted on the payment and didn't give them credit. Talpade, however, denies this vehemently and says that Shah is using arm twisting techniques to defame him, "The name of the company was excluded from the film's credits because they did a shoddy job. As producer, it's my prerogative to decide whose name goes in the credits," he told Mumbai Mirror. The complaint recorded states that initially the amount agreed between the parties was Rs 7 lakh, which was later brought down to Rs 5.5 lakh. "After the release of the movie on August 1, 2014, the directors of the company failed to pay the rest of the consideration amount and also failed to clear the service tax amount in the invoice," the complaint states. Talpade countered this by saying, "Firstly, the cheque bounced not because of insufficiency of funds, but because of a technical glitch in the date line. As soon as they alerted me about this, I issued another cheque which was promptly cleared." But Shah alleges that a payment of Rs 50,000 bounced, saying that it left him with no option but to file a case against Talpade.

Veena Malik has always been in the news for all the wrong reasons but the actress seemed to have mellowed down post her marriage. The actress and her husband were recently blessed with a baby boy. However, seems that the actress is in trouble once again. According to a PTI report, the owner of Pakistan's biggest media group, Geo TV along with actor Veena Malik and her husband was sentenced to 26 years in prison by an anti-terrorism court for allegedly airing a blasphemous programme. Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, owner of Geo and Jang group, was accused of allowing the airing of a blasphemous programme by Geo television in May, which played a religious song while staging a mock marriage of Malik with Bashir. The report further states that Judge Shahbaz Khan also sentenced both Malik and Bashir along with TV host Shaista Wahidi for 26 years each. The ATC also imposed a 1.3 million Pakistani rupees fine on the convicts and ordered that their properties should be sold to raise the fine, if they failed to pay it. The judge said in his judgment that all four accused committed profanity.
The report suggests that the court in its 40-page verdict also asked the police to arrest the convicts but all the four convicts are currently out of Pakistan and hence it is not known when the arrests would be carried out. Both Wahidi and the Geo group have tendered apology after the allegations were levelled but the extremists in the country refused to accept it.

Bhushan Kumar got embroiled in fresh legal trouble as Anees Bazmee slapped a case of non-payment of dues against him. The arbitration order may have gone in favour of Anees Bazmee (Mirror, November 11) but Ready producer Bhushan Kumar is not ready to pay up yet.According to a Mumbai Mirror report, he has moved to the High Court against the director. His lawyer, Hiren Mehta told Mirror, "Bazmee was to be paid Rs 8.61 crore but the project did not take off on time and on March 30, 2010, two agreements were signed whereby his remuneration was scaled down to Rs 5.50 crore, with profits to be shared by the two. Now, Bazmee wants Rs 11 crore, inclusive of profits. This would leave Bhushan with only Rs 9 crore. The gross collection of the film was Rs 120 cr. We had to re-shoot two songs, which cost us an extra Rs 2 crore. Added to that, we spent Rs 20 crore in publicity." The report further quoted Anees as diplomatically saying, "Bhushan and I are cordial to each other. Whatever I have asked from him is my rightful money."Bollywood celebrities enthrall audiences on the silver screen. But outside the glamorous world, they have often been caught on the wrong side of the law.
