Child sexual abuse is a major cause for concern for many. The dark experiences children face while growing up in the form of sexual abuse is daunting and scars their memories for the rest of their lives. Quite a few celebrities have recently spoken up about the issue and also revealed about their haunting memories while going through the same during their childhood. Kalki Koechlin: Kalki Koechlin recently shocked everyone when she opened up about her gloomy experience as a child. In an interview to news channel, NDTV, Kalki revealed that she was sexually abused as a child. She however added that she didn't want to declare to the world about this specific event in her life as it just becomes a "shocking headline" but somebody "who has gone through CSA (child sexual abuse) is not a headline." She also said "For me, it's not a one day headline, it's something that's a reality I have lived with for a long time". Kalki unfortunately isn't the first celebrity to have gone through this dark phase as a child.

Anurag Kashyap: Actress Kalki Koechlin's recently separated husband Anurag Kashyap has also been a victim of the same as a child. Anurag Kashyap confessed about being sexually abused as a child. Anurag confessed that he was sexually abused for 11 years long years continuously when he was small. In an interview sometime back the prolific filmmaker Anurag said that he had forgiven the man who abused him. He said, "I met him after many years. He wasn't some dirty old man. He was 22 when he abused me. He was guilt-ridden when we met. I decided to put the whole nightmare behind me and move on. But it wasn't easy. I came to Mumbai brimming with angst, bitterness and a sense of violation and isolation. Thanks to the love of my life, Kalki Koechlin, I am completely cured of my acrimony." Even though the couple has taken time off each other, their pain still connects them.

Sophia Hayat: The very controversial Sophia Hayat also had a rather gloomy childhood. The actress had gone on record to talk about being sexually abused as a child. The sexy British born actress revealed that she was only 10-years-old when her uncle had sexually abused her. Sophia had candidly spoken about the dark and disturbing childhood where she was sexually abused by her own relative. Sophia was last seen on the reality show 'Bigg Boss' where she had participated. Sophia had also filed a police complaint against another house inmate Armaan Kohli for allegedly 'assaulting' her.

Anoushka Shankar: Sitar player Anoushka Shankar was also sexually abused as a child. Shankar had admitted to being a victim of sexual abuse as a child, last year. At the release of a video for global women's rights campaign, legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar's daughter confessed about her dark childhood. Speaking to the media she said that she was sexually abused as a child by a family friend. She had admitted that she suffered sexual and emotional abuse by a man who her family trusted completely and this left her scarred for life. Not only that, she also admitted that despite being a celebrity, she also faced other forms of abuse like groping, touching, verbal abuse and other things. Hence, she is committed to the cause of women and their security.

Ashley Judd: American film and TV actress, Ashley Judd too was a victim of sexual abuse as a child. One of the highest-paid actresses of Hollywood, Ashley Judd was brutally raped several times during her childhood and youth. In her memoirs, 'The Normal Life', the actress opened up about how she was lured into an empty building by a stranger who said he was going to give her a quarter for a pinball machine. The stranger then molested her. What left Ashley devastated was the fact that even though she managed to fight the perpetrator off, her family refused to believe her when she told them about the horrible incident. Ashley said that she was raped during her modelling days when a male model allegedly forced her to perform oral sex for him. The political activist wrote in her book 'All That Is Bitter & Sweet' that she wanted to kill herself and had 'once loaded the gun herself, gave the chamber a spin and put it to her head'!
