PLOT SUMMARY
Moinak and Dulal are flat-mates in Bombay, looking for a break as struggling Bollywood script-writers. They meet various filmmakers (Mahesh Bhatt, Anil Sharma, etc.) but don't get a break until Gonzo Kapoor, an ageing star-son, demands a script with no story but lots of sex and arty references.
As they start work, Dulal, who's just broken up with his girlfriend Guggi, meets lawyer Ruma in a bar. She's impressed by his poetry but thinks he's the friend with a sexual disorder Moinak earlier told her about. She's also about to leave for America on a photography course but the attraction between her and Dulal grows.
Moinak wants Dulal to focus fully on writing Gonzo's script - and paying their landlord's son their rent - but Dulal wants to spend time with Ruma. The two go for dinner to Colaba where Dulal confesses to Ruma he wants to travel and she encourages him to live his life.
Gonzo takes the two writers to his farmhouse to brainstorm but they find the censor board chief Mr. Nene there with his towel-clad date. The three get frustrated and Dulal finally tells Gonzo to grow up. Moinak and Dulal have a fight over this and the friends part ways. Moinak meets Gonzo and his producer father separately and gets signed to produce a script that should be like a recipe for keema. Producer Sweety Kapoor gets offended when Moinak asks for payment but calms down when Moinak apologises.
Meanwhile, Dulal and Moinak make up and Moinak encourages Dulal to tell Ruma how he feels. Dulal goes to tell Ruma that he loves her but her parents are there, helping her to pack. Ruma gently tells Dulal he's on the rebound and she has to leave.
One year later, Moinak is the star writer of a 100-crore blockbuster starring Gonzo while Dulal has become a serious writer and is about to visit America to publicize his book. The two friends meet in a bar and laugh about their attempts to write - and love.
